Geddes works in the realm of mythology. Her larger-than-life paintings include representations of Monkeys (mind), Martyrs (spirit), and Mummies (body). They begin as powerful symbols that represent something profoundly personal and cathartic, but by painting’s end they represent something more universal. While her work is wildly original, Geddes shares that the mystical and bold emotionalism of Goya, Grunewald, and Francis Bacon inspire her. They portray startling, shocking images, yet they have great tenderness and beauty. It is this tradition to which she adds her voice.

Geddes creates a private narrative to express the universal, drawing inspiration from the great mythologies of India, Catholicism and the Celtic lure. Her themes are the endless cycle of life, death and rebirth. After studying at the San Francisco Art Institute for a decade, and exhibiting in a handful of San Francisco shows to acclaim, she has secluded herself in her studio on remote Orcas Island in the Pacific Northwest. There she can focus solely on her paintings, creating hundreds of previously unreleased, never before seen paintings and drawings .
